Compass Retirement Solutions
Compass Retirement Solutions’ mission is to inspire our clients to make informed financial decisions through ample education, clear communication and excellent customer service, all while exceeding their expectations. Our primary areas of focus include retirement income strategies, wealth management and conservative retirement planning.
Marvin Mitchell is the president and CEO of Compass Retirement Solutions. Marvin has more than 10 years of experience in the insurance and annuity industry, has passed the Series 65 securities exam, and holds life and health insurance licenses in Illinois and Missouri. Marvin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Marvin grew up in a working-class family in St. Louis, with little money. The first in his family to earn a college degree, Marvin put his law school education on hold to help care for his grandmother after she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. Marvin soon discovered that, although his grandmother had worked her whole life, she was still susceptible to financial turmoil as a result of poor financial advice and a stock market crash. Inspired to help other, hardworking retirees, Marvin became a broker for a large financial institution before founding Compass Retirement Solutions in 2013.
In 2015, Gazelle STL magazine named Marvin to its “Gazelle Influence List,” which honors men and women who make a difference in the community, and in 2016, he received the St. Louis County NAACP Distinguished Legacy Award. He also has been featured in “St. Louis American,” “Town & Style” and more. In addition, he hosts the weekly radio show “Rethinking Retirement” on KTRS 550 AM in St. Louis.
Marvin has served as a board member for United4Children and is vice president of leadership development for Urban League Young Professionals of St. Louis. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling to tropical locations, softball and being involved in his local church.
